Kofi Agorsor

Kofi Agorsor, born in Accra in 1970 and hailing from the Volta region of Ghana, is a versatile artist known for his prowess in painting, sculpture, and music. Having completed his art studies at Ankle College of Art in Accra in 1989, he initially explored architecture before pursuing his passion for the arts.

In his vibrant paintings, Agorsor employs pulsating colors to depict the essence of modern Ghanaian experiences. His subjects, often rendered in a buoyant, semi-abstract, and witty style, range from solitary figures in sensuous poses to lively scenes with crowded market women and glitterati at events. His artworks sometimes feature splashes, drips, and flowing paint that create enchanting forests or mazes. His sculptures exude a sense of spontaneous orderliness.

Apart from his visual art, Agorsor is an integral part of the Agorsor Afro Band, led by Nyornuwofia Agorsor. Together, they perform original compositions at various local and international events. The energy and subtleties reflected in his musical work complement his artistic expressions. Recently, Agorsor has been devoted to recording sessions with his band. Inspired by both the natural and supernatural realms, his art and music deeply inspire audiences. Despite his success in local and international exhibitions, he remains humbly committed to supporting local children’s homes in Ghana.
