Tayo Olayode a distinguished Nigerian artist, graduated in Fine Art from Ahmadu Bello University in 1998. His diverse artistic repertoire spans paintings, sculptures, tapestries, and large-scale installations featured in public spaces across Nigeria, exploring unique textures and unconventional applications in abstraction, realism, and surrealism.
Mentored by renowned African artists, including Professors Abayomi Barber, Jerry Buahri, Ablade Glover, and Abiodun Olaku, Olayode’s works have gained prominence in local and international auctions and exhibitions, gracing private and institutional collections. Notable commissions include the Eco tree at the Lagos state governor’s office and the Mega pipe at CMS walkway CMS Marina for the Lagos@50 project.
As co-founder of Iponri Art Studios and President of the Watercolour League, Olayode actively contributes to the Society of Nigerian Artists. Recognised for his talent, he received the Terra Kultur/Ford Foundation art award in 2006 and the Arthouse Foundation Scholarship in 2014, enabling study and residency programs in Ghana and Vermont.
