Born in 1961 in Zaria, Nigeria, Ovraiti pursued his artistic education at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, and later earned a Master of Fine Art degree from the University of Benin. He served as a professor at the Federal Polytechnic in Auchi for an extended period.
Sam Ovraiti is a highly acclaimed Nigerian watercolorist, renowned for his vibrant use of color to convey emotions. He belongs to the esteemed Auchi School, known for its expressive style. In addition to watercolors, Ovraiti has also explored oils on canvas, often creating cubist-inspired representations of the human body. His artwork combines abstraction and representation, utilizing indeterminate forms that defy traditional linear perspective.
Ovraiti’s talent has been showcased in various exhibitions across Nigeria, Europe, and the United States. Currently, he holds the esteemed position of director at the Harmattan Workshops in Delta State and is a respected member of the Guild of Fine Artists in Nigeria.
