Betty Acquah born on March 20, 1965, is another Ghanaian painter known for her feminist art. She employs pointillism, oil painting, and acrylic techniques in her works. Acquah pursued a master’s degree in Visual Arts, specializing in painting, from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. She also completed a professional arts course at the Tokyo School of Art in Japan.
Acquah has extensive experience working for the art gallery of the Center for National Culture in Accra and curating exhibitions at the Berj Art Gallery. She is a member of the Ghana Association of Visual Artists. In a June 2019 interview with Newsday BBC, she expressed her hope for the opening of a national art gallery in Ghana.
Her artwork has been showcased in various countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, India, Germany, Spain, Japan, and the United States. Acquah’s art often highlights Ghanaian women, whom she sees as the “unsung heroes of the republic of Ghana.”
